Bulgarian WiMAX Network Expands Coverage to 30% Population

Bulgarian WiMAX network provider, Max Telecom has announced that its coverage now extends to 30% of the population - or around 2.5 million people. The company says that it aims to expand its coverage to 90% of the population by the end of 2008 and double its investment of EUR15 million.

The company had extended its WiMAX wireless network to the ski resorts Bansko, Pamporovo and Bankya during December 2007. It already operates networks in Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Doupnitsa, Pazardjik, Pernik, Petrich, Plovdiv, Sandanski and Sliven.

Max Telecom started its WiMAX network in October 2007 with a data speed of 2Mbps. The speed will be increased to 5Mbps by the end of February.
