TurkCell 3rd Operator tender participation probable – ICT director
Ministry of Information & Communication Technology International Affairs director said they have not received any written document regarding TurkCell’s complaint over its rejection after winning the Iranian mobile phone 2nd Operator tender.
In reply to the question as whether TurkCell would be able to participate in 2nd Operator, Ahmad Pouragnia said 2nd Operator is now operational and TurkCell could only take part in 3rd Operator tender.
It should be mentioned that TurkCell was the only non-Iranian company which was declared winner of 2nd Operator tender but was somehow dumped from the project.
Pouragnia indicated it was not possible to facilitate its participation in the 3rd Operator tender as other participants would object.
He stressed foreign operators could only have 49% share of mobile phone 3rd Operator, and indicated that Iranian companies could participate in the tender in the form of a consortium.
