Turkcell Registers 500.000 Mobile Signature Requests

Turkish mobile communications provider Turkcell recently highlighted the success of its mobile signature service, launched last February.

Turkcell launched the service with five banks that were committed to using mobile signatures for their online banking security. As the popularity of this method increased, more and more banks such as Akbank, Bank Asya, Denizbank, Garanti, HSBC, Kuveyt Turk, TEB, Turkiye Finans, Turkiye Is Bankasi, Finansbank, Sekerbank and Yapi Kredi jumped on board.

In recent years, banks and financial institutions have been taking up mobile signature technology with the expectation it will prove popular among their customers. Garanti bank, Turkiye Is Bankasi and Turkcell have launched commercials featuring mobile signatures and mobile banking services.

Apart from banks and financial institutions, two brokerages are using mobile signatures for confirming trades. They are Ak Yatirim, Finans Invest. The Ministry of Justice, which uses mobile signatures for user authentication and digital form signing, along with two 2 municipalities (Fatih, Sisli), are also using this service.

Valimo Wireless, the market leader and unique provider of complete end-to-end mobile signature and identity solutions, provides the technology on which Turkcell's mobile signature service is based. The service has won three awards: the Turkish Electronics Industrialists' Association's Product Innovation Award, Gemalto's Most Innovative GSM Service 2007 award and the Active Academy Jury Special award.

Deniz Tuncalp, Mobile Signature Unit Manager at Turkcell, said announced in a statement that the 'Mobilimza' mobile signature service has clocked more than 500,000 signature requests from Turkcell's subscriber base.
