Clearwire to offer Google apps to WiMAX customers

With Sprint’s planned WiMAX network rollout, once-partner Clearwire is moving and shaking to bring more value to its WiMAX customer-base. Clearwire has just announced that they’ve partnered-up with Google to offer Google Talk, Gmail, and Google’s other web-based services to Clearwire WiMAX subscribers. After Sprint pulled out of the WiMAX network build-out deal with Clearwire, both companies are scrambling to become the premier wireless broadband provider in The States. This deal with Google may just give Clearwire the edge it needs to compete with Sprint’s massive network rollout. The new Google applications should be available to Clearwire’s wireless internet customers in 1H 2008 - which is to say, soon.
