Huawei to deploy 1st mobile WiMAX network in Central Asia

Huawei Technoligies Co., Ltd, a market leader in providing next generation telecom network solutions for global operators, announced on Tuesday that the firm has been selected by Tajikistan's No.1 telecom operator Babilon-T to deploy the central Asia's first WiMAX commercial network.

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide an end-to-end Mobile WiMAX network, including distributed Base Station, Wireless Access Service Node-Gateway, Network Management Equipment and Terminals. The rollout will begin immediately and is expected to launch during the first quarter of 2008.

Huawei's mobile WiMAX solutions integrate the most advanced technologies, which will enable Babilon-T's subscribers to enjoy high-speed internet broadband access, watch mobile TV, or use VoIP at various locations. "This new technology will undoubtedly bring new market opportunities for Babilon-T," commented Wang Kexiang, President of Huawei CIS Region.

Babilon-T is the largest telecommunication operator in Tajikistan. After seven years of development, the company is now the leader of providing full range of telecommunication services in the country.
