Intel gets a license to operate WiMax network in Sweden

Microprocessor industry giant Intel has now become one of the first winners of a license to operate a WiMax network in Sweden. The company paid around $26 million for a 15-year license. Intel is one of the biggest promoters of the WiMax technology. The company is expected to gain a lot from the usable of this technology in world markets. The company said in a statement that they are now looking for partners to build and maintain this network. They are not going to sell the license but would rent it.

The other operators to have won a similar license include: TeliaSonera AB, Tele2 AB and HI3G Access AB in addition to Telenor ASA.
